Thanks to Joe for having me on at Seoulpodcast.com, to discuss Daegu Pockets, Galbijim projects, and a bunch of other stuff. It’s a long one.
PS. Scott and I also did an interview with MBC, last week. Supposed to be airing sometime in Feb. Will link to it, when it goes up on their site.
Been sick with flu, coupled with working 2 jobs and recently finishing map revisions for the Daegu magazine. These are my excuses for allowing the blog posts to fall into arrears. Still on track for a late January launch of our inauguaral Feb edition.
Hope to resume some daily blog posting here shortly, once I get my shit in order.
Busy as hell these days and mostly to do with this:

Will resume regular posting soon.
Just arrived back in Daegu, last night. Will be getting sorted out and resume past blogging habits, within the next day or two.
Blogging about any timely stuff about Daegu or news, is going to be on the shelf for the next 10 days or so. I’m getting married today and will be busy running her Korean family around Canada for sight-seeing for the next 10 days (yes, not a romantic honeymoon, but it is what it is, until we can make time for ourselves later in the year.). Nevertheless, I’ve future-dated at least 2 blog posts a day with DVD rental reviews of Korean movies w/ English subs, plus Korean/English language study (Language Lab). One late evening, before we leave for Niagara Falls, I’ll probably sit down for a half hour and future-date another series of thematic posts, just so this place has a little more than a heartbeat of activity. Everything should be business as usual, once I get situated back in Daegu around Oct.1.
I’ve got 7 of the next 10 days off, so looks like I can be able to put more thought into blog posts and organizing the translating/proofreadings, which have fallen into neglect, mostly due to me getting busy with work, wedding planning, and prepping for the move back to Korea. Also working on the street maps of downtown Daegu, which we’re hoping to get all done by the end of Sept. Those will be online and interactive, as well as in printable format for those wanting maps to stick in your back pocket. Will also be doing maps of Siji, Jisan, Seongseo and Kyungdae nightlife, Palgongsan tourist sites, surrounding area of all Daegu subway stations, followed by Itaewon, Hongdae, and Sinchon. Looking forward to the new year, as we make a big strategy shift into mapping which will tie into the existing content of the wiki.
5 Reasons Wiki Travel Guides Are Better Than Guidebooks
Agreed.
I just finished the Sinchon nightlife template, which is so long, that it’ll stretch the future Sinchon pages that the template will be included on. Must need to figure out how to optimize that beast more.
In taking a moment to poke around, I’ve noticed Jackpedia has made the scene, since I last looked around.
Traveller’s Point has a really sharp wiki, that seems to be following down the path blazed by World66, although they appear also be incorporating blogs and forums.
Off to do some template hunting on Mediawiki.
We had to use a week old backup of the forums to do it, but the Korean language encoding is now resolved on the forums, and we’re back to normal. Just have to endure the lost of a week’s posts. I hope that we can now put the commotion past us and that we can now look forward to no more server transfers and related hiccups, for at least another 1-2 years, if not longer. It’s an economical, yet efficient setup now and I see no reason to move out of it, until our traffic deems that we’ve outgrown our bandwidth needs. Which I don’t see happening for a long while, unless, we or part of our sites begin to work in conjuction with a Korean media company and re-shaped to also cater to the Korean market. Which I also don’t see happening in the near term. At least until maybe 1-2 years after Project X is launched, which likely won’t see the light of day until next year, given my planned hiatus to Canada for the bulk of this year.
Been sidetracked due to trying to tame the forums, which had some signs of hangover after the migration to the new server last weekend. Almost have it stable. Will resume blogging and wiki work shortly.
