Ok, this is fun. At least to me, anyways. I just found a great table on Daegu city’s website that shows price comparisons for goods being sold in all of Daegu’s major street markets. There’s a lot to go through, but I’ll break it down according to where expats can buy the cheapest of stuff that we would likely be apt to buy in a Korean street market.

Cheapest market for green onions

Chilseong Market, 500won for 1kg.

Lettuce
Chilseong, 120won per 100g.

Oranges
Chilseong, Dong-gu, Bongdeok, Seonam, Paldal. 8000won for 10

While certainly not as choice as being able to buy stuff on base or at Seoul favorites, such as Hannam Market, Daegu has some decent ‘gray markets’ sprinkled around, where you can get Western goods not commonly found in your avg shopping experience in Emart, Home Plus, etc…

Gyodong Market seems to have the best concentration. Their selection seems to be on par with most grey/black market vendors that you’d find in the import markets of Namdaemun. The best one is actually closer to Camp Walker, tucked away in Bongdeok Market. Any of these are worth a visit, if you’re in the area. Costco would still be the best bet for a lot of stuff, IMO,
