A : Looks like you’ve put on a few pounds.
You’re not working out these days?
B : No, I’ve got no time.
A : I can’t tell by looking at your face, but from the side, I see you’re getting a potbelly.

A:You can’t possibly ask me to get home by 10. I’m an adult now, dad.

B:It’s way too dangerous to hang out late at night, especially for a pretty girl like you. You have a 10 o’clock curfew. Period!

A:That’s ridiculous! You can’t tell me what to do.
A:말도 안돼요!

B:Don’t talk back to me! I have your best interests at heart.

(to reply rudely to somebody in authority) 상대의 말을 되받아쳐(back) 대답하는 (talk) 모습을 연상하면 기억에 도움이 된다.

A:I appreciate you coming to my baby’s first birthday party last week.

B:My pleasure. In fact, I got a chance to experience a part of Korean culture.

A:Oh, her grandfather seemed especially fond of her.

B:Yes, he’s always saying that she’s the apple of his eye.

My pleasure!, Don’t mention it., Think nothing of it., Pleasure is all mine과 같은 천만에요, 오히려 제가 즐거웠습니다라는 의미의 문장으로 답할 수 있다.

A:Have you seen the movie `The New Moon’?
A:영화 `뉴 문’ 봤어?

B:No, not yet. Have you?
B:아니, 아직. 너는?

A:Yes. I saw it with Gina last Friday and it was awesome! Especially the scene where werewolves were fighting totally blew me away. It’s not something you’ve seen somewhere else before.
A:봤지.

B:Really? I don’t like fantasy movies, but I guess I should see it sometime.

(Source: Kwnews)

V + 아/어 + 야겠다 : This pattern is used for when you think something is advisable, similar to “had better” or “(I) guess (I) should” or “(I) guess I have to.” This pattern is often used in a way to reflect your own personal thought, so the regular 다 ending is often used (i.e. 가야겠다). (Source: Korean Wiki Project)
“I guess I should to go.”
“I’m hungry. I’ll guess I should eat.”
“I had better sleep (now).”
“I guess we’ll have to take a cab.”
“I had better do the dishes.”
“I’m so thirsty. I guess I should drink some water.”
“I had better clean my room.”
“I guess I’m going to have to study Korean.”
“I guess I have to wake up now.”
“I guess I should wash myself.”

In a span of 5 hours, I hear that the printing of the Jan mags of Daegu Pockets might be delayed, then I got a Hep B shot where the nurse said that I can’t drink tonight, then I had a ferocious argument with someone who tried to fuck me over on my best p/t job, then I hit another car while driving with anger from the heated phone call, then the other car driver said not to worry about it, then I made a flurry of calls to get the job back plus sincere apology to the guy who I first tore a strip out of, then the mags finished on time, and everything has now come full circle, save for me not being able to drink tonight. Happy new year!

As a ‘24‘ junkie, I absolutely love this Iris series. Plus just to stare at Kim Taehee. Wishing that I can find a working site or torrent that has subtitles, though. Will have to wait to buy the DVD.
