The Avian flu scare has taken its toll on the chicken-peddling restaurants of Daegu, so much so that the city’s Namgu district office in Bongdeok-dong sent its civil servants to gorge on samgyetang in front of onlooking cameras, in hopes to stimulate interest to start eating chicken. Knowing how much little merit Koreans place on government telling them what to do, it’s a good bet that later there was a line-up of officials heading to the washroom to place finger down throat.
